Sarah Timmer Harvey is a translator and writer currently based in Woodstock, New York. She holds an MFA from Columbia University in New York and a BA from Southern Cross University.
Sarah’s translation of Jente Posthuma’s novel What I’d Rather Not Think About was published by Scribe in 2023 and shortlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2024. Their translation of Thistle, a novel by Nadia de Vries, was published in October 2024 by The New Menard Press and Reconstruction, Sarah's translation of stories written by the Dutch-Surinamese writer Karin Amatmoekrim, was published by Strangers Press in 2020 as part of the Verzet! chapbook series. In 2025, Scribe will publish Sarah's translation of Jente Posthuma's critically acclaimed debut, People with No Charisma. Sarah’s translations of Dutch-language poetry and fiction have appeared in the Michigan Quarterly Review, Modern Poetry in Translation, Asymptote, Gulf Coast Journal, The Los Angeles Review, and elsewhere.
Born in Australia, Sarah lived and worked in the Netherlands for 14 years before moving to New York City in 2013.
